This is my first post and I’m pretty sure it will be my least smooth and thought out.

I decided to start this blog when I found myself out of work for a while and not sure what to do with myself or my time. So I thought things through and outlined a plan of what I would like to do with the next 5 to 10 years (and possibly beyond). I didn’t like the label of semi-retired because I still wanted to do something with my time and continue to work towards a full retirement. That’s when I thought up the term pre-retired, turns out I’m not as original as I first believed, and a search brought up quite a list of results.

I wasn’t satisfied with most of these, except for the poem by Linda Winchell, I found that pretty interesting, so I decided I would do my best to create a new definition and I will use this blog to define the term and the decisions I made to live in the pre-retirement phase of my life.
